Kherson Park Redevelopment

We are continuing the celebration for Kherson Park with a special event on Friday, June 2 and we hope you can join in on the FUN!

The Kent Parks Summer BLAST OFF event will consist of food trucks, giveaways, and fun activities. Plus, there will be a special showing of Pixar’s WALL-E. The movie starts at dusk.

The renovations at Kherson Park are now complete! On Saturday, May 20, we will be commemorating the Grand Re-Opening with a celebration onsite. Mayor Ralph and members of the Kent City Council will be joining us, as well as our partners from Boeing who sponsored the development of the Space for Kidz app that complements the park amenities.

We cannot wait to celebrate the completion of this exciting project and hope that you can join us – we could not have done this project without YOU!

The event is open to the public and is now being promoted on social media and the City of Kent website. We will be offering light refreshments and giveaways, and will be holding a special “ribbon cutting” ceremony. The event kicks off at 10:30am on Saturday, May 20 – we hope to see you there! 😊

Construction is complete and the park is open. Come and explore Kent’s space themed park through the Lunar Rover replica, life-size astronaut, and lunar lander. This project will include a renovated downtown green space, improved pedestrian connectivity, a small gathering space, and a space themed children's playground that celebrates our region's legacy of aero and outer space innovation by memorializing its role in space exploration. We believe this new and innovative park will inspire today's youth to pursue out-of-this-world opportunities!

Space for Kidz represents a long-term commitment by the City of Kent and the Kent Downtown Partnership—in collaboration with Washington State’s space industry—to educate and inspire children to pursue STEM education through the use of digital technology and experiential play at a space-themed park.
